Hi and welcome. I think it would be cool to chronicle my return to climbing. I was an avid climber during the mid '80's. I got introduced to it by the husband of a friend of my girlfriend. We hit it off and would go out climbing every chance we could. He was the better climber, but I had my moments. During that time, he got divorced, and I split up with my girlfriend, but we kept climbing. We also got stoned a lot. In June of '88 we got very high indeed on the Nose of El Cap. Unfortunately, the weed was messing me up, with anxiety and paranoia. Later that summer, I moved back east to be with my folks for a few years. On Memorial Day weekend in '89 I broke my foot in a leader fall from a slimy, moss covered pile of dung in Massachusetts. After that, my balance was off, my nerves were shot, and truthfully, my damn foot would hurt like hell, after even a short pitch. It was a few years later that was was able to stop smoking the herb for good. I've been off it for 16 years now. I always meant to climb forever, but instead, it seems like I've been away forever, and I really want to get back into it. Well I've collected some used gear at the flea market over the past couple of years. quite a few beaners, a few nuts, a new harness I can barely squeeze into, and some shoes in the newer (to me) slipper style, I miss my old Fiere''s. . I guess I'd better pony up for a new rope and some slings, I'm almost dumb enough to buy those used too. This looks like a great site, and I really hope I can find a few noobs to skill up with again.
